Lupo
Lupo is a savage, wolf-like warrior native to Marvel's Savage Land, the hidden prehistoric jungle in Antarctica. He is a member of the Savage Land Mutates, a group of primitive beings artificially evolved by the villain Magneto to serve as his enforcers against Ka-Zar and the X-Men.
Few characters carry the wild, primal energy of the Savage Land quite like Lupo, who burst onto the scene in 1969's The X-Men #62 β a landmark Silver Age debut courtesy of the legendary creative team of Roy Thomas and Neal Adams. Rooted in Marvel's lush prehistoric jungle setting, Lupo has kept dangerous company across the decades, sharing adventures with the likes of Barbarus, Brainchild, Gaza, Amphibius, and Ka-Zar in the pages of The Uncanny X-Men and The Avengers. What makes this character a genuine collector's curiosity is that remarkable breadth of publication history β from that iconic 1969 first appearance all the way through to the present day, a span of over fifty years touching some of Marvel's most celebrated titles. With team affiliations spanning the X-Men, the Avengers, and S.H.I.E.L.D., Lupo is a hidden thread woven through the larger tapestry of the Marvel Universe, well worth tracking down for fans who love their comics with a little untamed edge.
