The cover of Amazing Spider-Man #428 sets up a tense mid-air confrontation, with Spider-Man swinging inverted above a furious Doctor Octopus — whose massive mechanical arms sprawl across the foreground in a tangle of steel and chains. The subtitle "A Farewell to Arms" adds a clever wink to an already kinetic image rendered with real energy by cover penciler Steve Skroce and inker Bud LaRosa. Writer Tom DeFalco and artist Skroce were clearly having a good time with this one, and the dynamic composition makes it easy to see why.
