The Amazing Spider-Man #222
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeSpeed is the name of the game in The Amazing Spider-Man #222, as the cover — penciled by Ed Hannigan and Walter Simonson, inked by Simonson — plunges Spider-Man into the eye of a churning vortex while a swarm of identically costumed, blue-and-pink-clad speedsters tear around the base of the whirlwind in a blur of motion. The composition does a wonderful job conveying sheer velocity, with debris flying and wind lines radiating outward as our wall-crawler struggles at the center of the chaos. With Bill Mantlo scripting and Bob Hall on interior art, this November 1981 issue looks like a terrifically kinetic ride.
