- First appearance of Gloria 'Glory' Grant (Gloriana Grant), created by Gerry Conway and Ross Andru — introduced as Peter Parker's new neighbor in his Lower West Side apartment building, where she meets him and Flash Thompson while they are moving in.
- Full origin of the Grizzly revealed: J. Jonah Jameson's past editorial campaign against brutal wrestler Maxwell Markham (the Grizzly) directly parallels his later anti-Spider-Man crusade, and Jameson's role in ending Markham's career is disclosed here for the first time.
- The Grizzly's first appearance was in the preceding issue, ASM #139 (December 1974); #140 resolves that two-part story ('…And One Will Fall!'), reveals Markham's real name, and provides his full backstory via flashback.
- The Jackal's exoskeleton-powered Grizzly suit — built by Miles Warren/the Jackal — is destroyed by Spider-Man in this issue when he dismantles it piece by piece during their gym confrontation.
