That Wilkin Boy #38
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeBingo Wilkin — billed right on the cover as "the newest and brightest star in comics" — rides into September 1976 with a cover setup that's pure slapstick gold: Bingo confidently pedals what appears to be a trick bicycle past his friend Samantha, boasting there's only one thing he has to watch out for, just before a low stone bridge with a "Clearance 9 Ft." sign suggests his confidence may be hilariously misplaced. Stan Goldberg's pencils (inked by Rudy Lapick) capture the breezy, sun-dappled fun of the Archie universe with bright colors and expressive characters that make this lighthearted teen comedy immediately inviting. If you've never spent time with Bingo and company, this cheerful two-panel gag cover is a fine reminder of why the Archie line was such a reliable source of warm, witty entertainment.
