Michael Dooney
Michael Dooney is an American comic book artist, writer, and toy designer, best known for his contributions to the *Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles* universe. Born in the United States, he became a key creative force at Mirage Studios, where he also created the original series *Gizmo* in 1986. Dooney’s clean, expressive linework and dynamic storytelling made him a frequent collaborator with Kevin Eastman and other TMNT veterans, and he often handled art, inking, and coloring duties. He co-created several memorable characters and stories for the Turtles, including work on the *Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures* series and the *Savage Dragon / Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Crossover*. Beyond comics, he lent his talents to toy design, helping shape the Turtles’ merchandise. Active from 1986 to 2013, Dooney’s credits span 34 issues, with notable runs on *Plastron Cafe* and *Las Tortugas Ninja*. His legacy endures as a versatile craftsman who helped define the look and feel of the TMNT franchise during its formative years. While not a frequent award-winner, his work remains a touchstone for fans of the era.
