Sela and Fincher use the ploy of interspace smuggling to get on board the Darkness' giant living ship. Sela reports to her commanders that things are going according to plan but she does not plan on growing close to the dark ruler of the cosmos. As the Darkness cozies up to Sela, she is given every luxury but still holds the memory of her mother who died at the hands of the Darkness.
