Tales of the Darkness #2
In *Tales of the Darkness #2* (1998), Sela uncovers a chilling truth: the Darkness is being manipulated by his loyal servant, Vassal. As she tries to stop him, her mother Galinda emerges from the very essence of the Darkness to fight Vassal, buying Sela and the Darkness precious time to flee. They reach a serene, sunlit planet, hoping for peace—only for the rising sun to shatter the Darkness into dust. Left alone in sorrow, Sela finds the Darkness reborn aboard his ship, where Vassal awaits with quiet, knowing intent. Written by Brian Haberlin and Malachy Coney, with dynamic art by Whilce Portacio and Gilbert Monsanto, inks by Gerry Alanguilan, colors by Dan Kemp and Brian Haberlin, and letters by Dennis Heisler, the cover by Portacio and Alanguilan captures the haunting beauty of this pivotal moment.
