About the series
In the late 1990s, Image Comics spun off a five-issue limited series from its larger Darkness mythos, with writers Malachy Coney and Brian Haberlin and artists Clarence Lansang, Gilbert Monsanto, and Whilce Portacio exploring the shadowy corners of the mobster-turned-supernatural-antihero's world. This short run deepened the lore of the cursed Jackie Estacado—the bearer of the ancient, sentient power known as the Darkness—without overstaying its welcome. A focused, atmospheric addition to the Top Cow universe, it's a solid entry for fans of dark urban fantasy and the era's Image aesthetic.
