“Hoorah for the Conquering Hero!”

In "Hoorah for the Conquering Hero!", Iron Man is celebrated in New York after defeating Titanium Man—until the vengeful Countess Stephanie de la Spirosa teams up with the Mad Thinker to expose his secret identity. The Awesome Android is sent to capture Tony Stark, but a clever trap with a sleep gas-filled briefcase turns the tide. Written by Stan Lee and illustrated by Don Heck with inks by Mickey Demeo, this 1965 tale sees Iron Man fight back, save his captors, and face a personal dilemma when Happy’s condition worsens—forcing Tony to stay away while his chest plate recharges, much to Pepper’s frustration. The cover by Jack Kirby and Mike Esposito captures the high-stakes tension of the moment.
