“O preço da vitória”

In "O preço da vitória," Iron Man’s victory over Titanium Man comes at a devastating cost as Happy lies critically ill in the hospital. With Tony Stark struggling to recharge his armor and the weight of guilt pressing in, his return to the hospital becomes a tense confrontation of loyalty and emotion. As Pepper grapples with her growing resentment and a mysterious countess adds tension, Tony faces the difficult truth of his absence—while a specialist prepares to operate, the future of their bond hangs in the balance. Written by Stan Lee, illustrated by Don Heck with inks by Wally Wood, and featuring a cover by Jack Kirby (pencils) and Wally Wood (inks), this 1967 issue captures a pivotal moment in Iron Man’s story, where heroism is measured not just in battles won, but in the choices made in silence.

Iron Man defeats Titanium Man but at the price of Happy's health. As Happy lies dying in hospital, Tony is forced to recharge his armor. Tony finally arrives at the hospital and greets Pepper. The countess is there too and wants Tony's attention, but he tells her to shut up after she makes an unpleasant remark about Pepper. The countess leaves, slamming the door. Tony is unable to explain his tardiness in visiting Happy. A specialist doctor arrives, operates on Happy, and then suggests that Pepper and Tony go home. Pepper believes that Tony is heartless and harbors bad feelings towards him.
