Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olsen #53
In "The Boy in the Bottle!", Jimmy Olsen stumbles upon an alien ray-gun that turns him into a giant turtle-man after a mishap with a sea turtle. As he begins amassing massive amounts of steel and hauling it to a volcanic island, Superman must intervene—only to learn from Lori Lemaris that an Atlantean criminal manipulated Jimmy telepathically to safeguard buried pirate treasure. Written by Jerry Siegel and brought to life with Curt Swan’s expressive art and John Forte’s crisp inks, this 1961 classic features a wild, imaginative twist on size and identity, with Curt Swan and Stan Kaye crafting the iconic cover.

Jimmy finds an enlarging ray-gun and accidentally fires it through a turtle, striking himself, turning him into a giant turtle-man. When Jimmy begins to collect tons of steel objects, dumping them in an island volcano, Superman is called out to stop him. But Lori Lemaris tells Superman that an Atlantean criminal created the ray-gun and controlled Jimmy telepathically as part of a plan to protect pirate treasure buried on the volcanic island. Superman restores Jimmy with Brainiac's shrinking ray and recovers the pirate loot.
