A dime well spent in 1961 — this cover by penciler Curt Swan and inker John Forte delivers one of the most delightfully outlandish images in the series: Jimmy Olsen astride an enormous red ant called Llanix, clutching a chunk of Kryptonite while commanding the creature to close in on a visibly strained Superman below. The speech bubbles make the stakes perfectly clear — Jimmy has apparently gone full villain, declaring that Superman must be destroyed if the two of them are to rule the world. Featuring the story "King of the Giant Ants," this issue showcases the imaginative, anything-goes spirit that made Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olsen such a genuinely fun corner of the early DC universe.
