Superman #10
From John Byrne's celebrated post-Crisis reinvention of the Man of Steel comes this October 1987 issue subtitled "The Super Menace of Metropolis!" — and the cover sets the tension perfectly. Superman strides forward through a rubble-strewn Metropolis streetscape, his expression strained, as panicked civilians behind him point and shout the damning challenge emblazoned on the cover: "Get out of Metropolis, Superman — before you destroy the whole city!" Byrne's clean, confident linework captures a hero caught between duty and disaster, making this a compelling chapter in his and inker Karl Kesel's defining run on the title.
