Supergirl #2
In "Fish Out of Water," Supergirl and Grace go undercover on a high-seas raid that spirals into a bizarre captivity aboard a ship run by super-powered pirates. When Kara encounters a wounded, mermaid-like being begging for death, a haunting memory from Krypton resurfaces—her mother’s final request—testing her resolve in ways she never expected. The issue’s emotional weight is matched by its sharp, grounded storytelling, with Joe Kelly’s writing and Joe Benitez’s dynamic art bringing a grounded intensity to the surreal situation, while Alé Garza and Richard Friend deliver a striking cover that captures the story’s eerie tone.

Supergirl and Grace are undercover raiding a yacht. They expose super-powered pirates but are shanghaied into the crew. Kara turns down some sashimi-like food that apparently gives power. She finds a mermaid-like creature with hunks of flesh missing, who asks to be killed to make it stop. Kara flashes back to Krypton where her mother asked to be killed, which she did. Grace, busy fighting the pirates, asks Kara to kill the creature. She can't and is stabbed by the lead pirate. Grace kills the creature, ending the pirates' powers. Before they kill Kara, she is rescued by a new hero, Power Boy.
