When rival thieves—Ajhindar, Isparana, and Karamek—converge on the same prize, Conan finds himself outmaneuvered and captured, his soul imprisoned in a mirror and forced to reclaim the talisman he never stole.

In the scorched heart of the desert, Conan presses on toward Zamboula, tracking the thief Isparana and the stolen Eye of Erlik. After a brutal encounter with two assassins at an oasis, he crosses paths with the Turanian soldier Arsil, who claims the dead men were his quarry—and offers a dangerous shortcut through demon-guarded mountains, guarded by a creature tied to the very man Conan seeks to destroy.
