Suicide Squad: The Silver Age Omnibus #1
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis omnibus collects the earliest Silver Age adventures of the Suicide Squad, a team of military operatives and super-powered agents undertaking dangerous missions for the U.S. government. The volume reprints the original six-issue run from The Brave and the Bold #25-27 and #37-39, along with the team's subsequent appearances in Star-Spangled War Stories and other DC titles of the era. It showcases the pre-modern, non-supervillain incarnation of the Squad led by Rick Flag Sr., before the concept was later reimagined by John Ostrander.
"The Three Waves of Doom!" is a standout tale from the Suicide Squad: The Silver Age Omnibus #1, featuring the original team in a classic 1960s adventure written by Robert Kanigher and illustrated with bold precision by Ross Andru, with inks by Mike Esposito and colors by Digikore. When Dr. Duane vanishes after developing a formula that can grow things to giant size, the Suicide Squad is sent to a secluded resort to investigate—only to face a monstrous threat that may be tied to their missing scientist. The cover by Digikore captures the eerie scale of the mystery, making this a must-have for fans of vintage DC action.
In "The Creature of Ghost Lake," the Suicide Squad is sent to investigate the mysterious disappearance of Dr. Duane, whose experimental formula may have grown something—or someone—enormous. Disguised as guests at a secluded resort, the team uncovers a terrifying threat: a giant creature that seizes both a test bomb and their teammate Karin. With quick thinking and a well-placed anesthetic, the squad neutralizes the beast and safely detonates the bomb at sea. As the dust settles, they’re left with a haunting realization—what they destroyed might have been more than just a monster.
In "Return of the Dinosaur Killer!", Skipper and Professor find themselves swept back to Dinosaur Island after their glider is snagged mid-flight, drifting through fog and landing in the very jungle that once saved them. Trapped once more among prehistoric beasts, they confront the haunting sight of the Great White Ape dead in the river—only to be rescued by his son, who leads them in a desperate fight for survival. As they escape on a launched glider, the two drift into sleep, their dreams haunted by a strange, human-like ape who walks among the dinosaurs.
In "The Suicide Squad!", Morgan and Mace fight their way through a frozen wasteland, where prehistoric dinosaurs roam beneath the Arctic snow. Once rivals—Morgan blaming Mace for his brother Bill’s death—the two are forced to rely on each other as they race through treacherous terrain, dodging danger and each other’s bitterness. As the mission unfolds, their past shadows deepen, and survival depends on a bond neither wants to admit they need.
