Star Spangled War Stories #119
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeDC's Star Spangled War Stories #119 (1965) delivers one of the series' most striking covers, with a massive, snarling dinosaur coiling its long neck over a military tank as the wooden structure beneath them splinters apart — palm trees silhouetted against a lurid purple sky setting the prehistoric battlefield mood. Cover pencils by Ross Andru and inks by Mike Esposito bring tremendous energy to the confrontation, and the cover dialogue hints at a rivalry between two Suicide Squad characters, the Sheriff and the Wild One, who apparently have personal scores to settle even while facing a prehistoric monster. "Gun Fight on Dinosaur Hill!" promises the kind of only-in-comics collision of war action and lost-world adventure that made this title a genuine standout of 1960s DC Comics.
