Sugar & Spike #21
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeSheldon Mayer's delightful duo is back in this March 1959 issue from DC, and the cover alone captures everything charming about this series — Sugar and Spike are shown from behind, the blonde girl perched on a little red stool and red-haired Spike on a yellow box, both apparently facing an adult whose high-heeled shoe peeks into the frame, while tiny repeated vignettes of the babies' adventures fill the background pattern. With a story titled "Santa's Tough Day," there's clearly some holiday mischief brewing between these two irrepressible toddlers. At just ten cents, this is Sheldon Mayer's warm, gentle humor at its most inviting.
