Rick Jones s'habitue à son nouveau rôle d'hôte de Mar-Vell. Captain Marvel affronte Yon-Rogg et le Mandroid qui a kidnappé Carol Danvers dans un ancien avant-poste Kree. Pendant la bataille, Yon-Rogg tire sur Carol avec un laser qui la fait tomber inanimée. Captain Marvel la sauve (mais trop tard et le Magnitron la modifie génétiquement, lui donnant les pouvoirs qui lui permettront plus tard de devenir Ms. Marvel).
