Spooky #16

Harvey's "tuff little ghost" is in fine form on this January 1958 cover, where a thoroughly annoyed Spooky clutches a fistful of arrows while chaos reigns around him — shafts flying every which way and a derby hat skewered right to the archery target. It's a wonderfully expressive little scene that captures Spooky's trademark grumpy determination against an otherwise cheerful green backdrop. At just a dime, issue #16 is a charming snapshot of Harvey Comics' knack for wringing big personality out of their smallest characters.
