Chic Young's Dagwood Comics #31

Dagwood finds himself in quite the predicament on this June 1953 Harvey Comics cover — he's scrambling up the bars of a lion's cage while a very displeased, roaring lion swipes at him from its perch below. A horrified onlooker, pearls and all, watches the chaos unfold from the cage door, making the scene all the more delightfully frantic. With a story titled "Lion-Steaks," this issue promises the kind of gloriously absurd domestic-hero-meets-disaster comedy that made Chic Young's Dagwood a staple of American funny books.
