History

The series was announced at Marvel's Next Big Thing panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2023 and initially solicited as a miniseries before being confirmed as an ongoing; issue #2 shipped December 27, 2023 with a February 2024 cover date. Writer Steve Foxe, whose prior Marvel work included X-Men Annual and Dark X-Men, described the project as a lifelong passion, pairing with artist Carola Borelli — who had previously drawn Wasp for Marvel — under editor Ellie Pyle. The launch was designed to capitalize on renewed mainstream awareness of Jessica Drew following her prominent appearance, voiced by Issa Rae, in the 2023 animated film Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
