☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis 2013 Marvel collection brings together the storyline that saw Norman Osborn manipulate events to assemble a group of individuals for a mysterious ritual known as the Gathering of Five. The arc, which ran through several Spider-Man titles at the time, involves Peter Parker, Mary Jane Watson-Parker, and a host of supporting characters including Madame Web, Mattie Franklin, and the Osborn family. The story sets up major changes for the Spider-Man mythos, including the return of the Green Goblin and the introduction of a new Spider-Woman in Mattie Franklin.
In "Acquisitions (The Gathering of Five, Part One)," Spider-Man crosses paths with Override, a man racing against time and fate, as desperation drives him to pull a heist to secure his wife Aura’s future—only to find himself tangled with the web-slinger. Meanwhile, Mary Jane makes a bold choice to leave school and return to modeling, stepping into a new chapter of her life. Written by Todd DeZago and illustrated by Joe Bennett, with inks by Al Milgrom and colors by Tom Smith, the issue’s dynamic storytelling is framed by John Byrne’s striking cover.
In "Acquisitions (The Gathering of Five, Part One)," Spider-Man faces off against the enigmatic Override during a high-stakes break-in at the Technomancer Building, where secrets and technology collide. Meanwhile, Mary Jane is presented with an unexpected opportunity to return to modeling, pulling her into a moment of personal reckoning.
In "Gifts (The Gathering of Five, Part Five)," Override, fearing he may not survive the Gathering, risks everything on a heist to secure his wife Aura’s future—only to be stopped mid-caper by Spider-Man. Meanwhile, Mary Jane makes a surprising choice to leave school and return to modeling, stepping into a new chapter of her own.
In the climactic second part of a four-chapter arc, Spider-Man confronts the Green Goblin on the desolate grounds of the Osborn estate, driven by the desperate belief that his daughter Jo is still alive and being held by Norman Osborn. The battle rages under a storm-laden sky, where fury and fear collide in a fight that could decide more than just a single life.
