About this Issue

Spider-Boy #10 represents a turning point in one of Marvel's most inventive modern ongoing series: the climax of the 'forgotten sidekick' premise that defined Bailey Briggs since his debut. The issue gathers a sprawling cast of multiversal spider-people — including Mayday Parker's Spider-Girl (Earth-982), Silk, Araña, and the wider Spider-Society — to deliver a narrative payoff that begins restoring the Marvel Universe's collective memory of Spider-Boy, fundamentally reshaping how Peter Parker and Bailey relate to each other going forward. That shift carries real weight for the Spider-Man mythos, since the entire series had been built on the poignant hook of a hero whom no one, not even his mentor, could remember. By resolving (or beginning to resolve) that central tension at issue ten, Dan Slott signals a new chapter for a character who had already proven, in less than a year of solo publication, that Marvel had room for a genuine Spider-Man sidekick.

History

Bailey Briggs was co-created by writer Dan Slott and artist Humberto Ramos and first appeared in Spider-Man #7 (2023, part of the 'End of the Spider-Verse' arc written by Slott with art by Mark Bagley), emerging from the reweaving of the Web of Life and Destiny as a child hero nobody remembered. The character's immediate popularity — both that issue and his solo debut in Edge of Spider-Verse #3 sold out — led directly to the ongoing solo series launched in November 2023, with Paco Medina joining as series artist alongside Slott. By issue ten, the creative team of Slott and Medina (with Nathan Stockman sharing interior art duties) had spent the series' first arc methodically building out Bailey's world: his tragic origin at the hands of Madame Monstrosity, his connection to his mother Tabitha Briggs, and his uneasy partnership with Peter Parker — all setting up the status quo upheaval delivered here.
