Spawn #161 brings a visceral, doom-laden image from cover penciler Philip Tan and inkers Danny Miki and Allen Martinez — Spawn crouches atop a writhing mass of grotesque bodies, his tattered crimson cape billowing as a massive, shadowy creature looms over a burning, crumbling cityscape behind him. The sheer scale of the threat dwarfs even the hellspawn himself, filling the background with coiling limbs and ruin that suggests an apocalyptic confrontation. With David Hine scripting and Philip Tan delivering the interior art, this 2006 Image series was in confident hands.
