In "Jimmy Olsen's Two Super Pals," Jimmy agrees to a bizarre experiment from men of Jupiter, gaining mind-reading powers and transforming into a green, scaly alien—though he keeps his new form hidden while competing for Newsman of the Year. Written by Alvin Schwartz and illustrated by Curt Swan with inks by Ray Burnley, the story follows Jimmy as he navigates his new abilities and the growing suspicion of his rival Vince Regan, all while secretly hearing Clark Kent’s thoughts confirm his secret identity. The Jovian experiment ends just in time, with Jimmy returning to normal and the aliens helping safeguard Superman’s secret—cover by Curt Swan and Stan Kaye.

Jimmy agrees to be a test subject for a week for men from Jupiter. He is granted the ability to read minds, but is also turned into a green, scaly Jovian. He uses his abilities to compete for the Newsman of the Year, though he covers his appearance. Between scoops, Jimmy reads Clark Kent's mind and "hears" him think that he is Superman. Jimmy’s rival Vince Regan plans to expose Jimmy at the ceremony, but luckily a Jovian week is equal to 5 Earth days, and Jimmy has reverted to his old self by then. The Jovians declare the experiment a success and help Superman preserve his secret identity.
