About this Collection

This massive black-and-white volume collects early Silver Age tales featuring the extended Superman cast, including Supergirl, Krypto, and the Legion of Super-Heroes, from the pages of Adventure Comics and other titles. It reprints the debut of the Legion in Adventure Comics #247 and Supergirl's first appearance in Action Comics #252, among many other stories from the late 1950s and early 1960s. As part of DC's budget-friendly Showcase Presents line, it offers a dense, no-frills archive of the Superman family's formative adventures.

In "The Boy of 100 Faces!", a classic tale from the Superman Family, a clever twist on the Man of Steel’s signature rescue dynamic unfolds as Jimmy Olsen’s wristwatch becomes the unexpected key to a high-stakes game of deception and heroism. Written by Otto Binder and brought to life with timeless art by Curt Swan and Ray Burnley, this 2006 Showcase Presents issue showcases the enduring charm of Superman’s supporting cast, with a cover by Curt Swan and Stan Kaye capturing the moment’s tension.

When trailing Jimmy Olsen as he collects charitable donations around the city, "Labs" Logan figures out that Jimmy summons Superman through his wristwatch. So when Jimmy isn't looking, Labs changes the signal's frequency so that Superman won't come to Jimmy's rescue. But when Labs changes the signal back the proper frequency to lure Superman into a kryptonite trap, Jimmy uses the signal to broadcast Morse code to warn Superman, who nabs the crook long-distance and helps Jimmy deliver the charity collection.
