Trapped in a cavern with the monstrous mutants from the last story, he’s forced to fight for survival when a giant spider, another twisted mutation, attacks. With the help of a sheriff, he fights back and barely escapes the collapsing cavern, only to find himself reunited with his love—just as the antidote’s effects fade, and the Heap reclaims his monstrous form. Written and illustrated by Ross Andru, with inks by Pablo Marcos and letters by Irv Watanabe, this haunting tale of identity and transformation features a cover by Vicente Segrelles.
In 18th-century France, ravaged by plague and revolution, a crematorium worker keeps a solemn vow made to his dying wife: to grant their daughter any wish. Years later, when she falls in love with a man who is also her father’s paramour, the father’s devotion twists into a dark obsession—leading to a gruesome act that blurs the line between love, vengeance, and madness.
In the fog-drenched streets of 19th-century London, a cloaked figure strikes at midnight, each murder timed to the tolling of the city’s bells. As fear grips the populace and suspicion falls on the weary police inspector, the truth emerges in a chilling twist—behind the terror is an old woman whose quiet presence masks a far darker secret.
In "Dark Victory!" from Psycho #6 (1972), Jim Roberts—once the Heap—feels the antidote begin to take hold as he slowly reverts to his human form, only to find himself helpless and trapped among the mutants from the previous story. After a harrowing fight with a monstrous spider, Jim and a sheriff barely survive the cave-in that destroys the creatures, only to face a new, haunting truth: his return to humanity may be temporary.
In "Of a Sudden Is Thy Death!" from Psycho #6 (1972), a woman awakens in the afterlife, disoriented and pleading that she doesn’t belong there—she can’t remember her death. When she’s sent back to the living world, her relief turns to dread as she slowly realizes the truth: she was murdered by a vampire, and now she is one of the undead.
In "Frankenstein, Book II: The Phantom of the Opera," the monster and the blind seer Lilith are captured by the enigmatic Phantom of the Opera, Erik, who wields a time-bending organ built with the help of Dr. Pretorius. With the monster’s mind targeted for replacement by that of the original Frankenstein, Lilith’s telekinetic powers ignite a chaos that fractures time itself—sending the creature spiraling into an unknown era.
In "Sand Castle," a pilot and two bank robbers survive a plane crash in the desert, forced to trek toward salvation with dwindling water and mounting tension. As survival drives them to desperate choices, the fragile alliance fractures—and the truth behind the pilot’s chilling calm begins to unravel.
