Prez #3
DC's wild 1973 experiment in youth-power politics reaches its third issue, and the cover pulls no punches: young Prez — the First Teen President — stands confidently in what is literally a sniper's crosshairs, wearing his red "Prez USA" sweater with the Capitol dome looming behind him, while reporters and a mysterious armed woman press in around him. The cover's dialogue makes the stakes bracingly clear — an assassin is at large, a "Sharp-Shooter" is named, and a fight-to-the-death challenge hangs in the air — all rendered with sharp linework by Jerry Grandenetti. Joe Simon's offbeat concept of a teenager in the Oval Office has never felt more urgent than framed through a gun sight on this memorable Bronze Age cover.
