When a dying millionaire promises forgiveness to a lost son who'll return home, small-time crook Barney the Beard smells opportunity—but The Spirit suspects there's more to the setup than meets the eye. As Barney poses his way into the Swack household, he tangles with The Spirit, a vengeful ex-con with a very specific grudge, and discovers that the family reunion he's staged is far more dangerous than he bargained for. With lies piling up faster than he can spin them, Barney gets caught between a man seeking mercy and someone seeking revenge.
When Manhunter's trusted dog Thor inexplicably chases Quiz Kit—the smartest cat on Earth—away from the theater where the feline performs, the hero grows suspicious of the animal trainer behind the act: a man named Mr. Diablo. After a jeweler is found murdered by poisoned claws, Manhunter seeks out Diablo to help retrain Thor, unaware he's walking into a carefully laid trap designed to silence him and his canine partner. What unfolds is a deadly confrontation where instinct, loyalty, and hidden identities collide at the theatre.
