Rock takes to the skies in this November 1975 issue, and Joe Kubert's cover captures the chaos brilliantly — Rock clings to a red, white, and blue biplane marked with Allied roundels as Nazi-emblazoned aircraft burn across a battlefield below, with a locomotive barreling through the smoke-choked background. The story teased on the cover — "Rock Rides the Firebird" — promises something well outside Easy Company's usual foxhole warfare. Robert Kanigher and Rubeny bring the interior to life, but it's Kubert's kinetic, flame-filled cover image that makes this one hard to put back on the shelf.
