Our Army at War #243
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis 52-page 1972 DC giant delivers one of the more surreal images in Sgt. Rock's run: a battered, bound Rock stands helpless at center while an assortment of toy soldiers — a Napoleonic-era hussar, a medieval knight in bright heraldic armor, and other miniature figures — hold him captive with strings, promising a story titled "War of the Toy Soldiers!" Joe Kubert's cover pencils and inks give the scene a wonderfully gritty tension, Rock's weathered face set hard against the indignity of being restrained by playthings. At 25 cents for 52 big pages, it's a generous slice of DC war comics at their imaginative best.
