New Mutants #1

Marvel's 2009 relaunch of New Mutants opens with a cover by Adam Kubert that bristles with tension — a massive gauntleted fist grips a serrated blade in the foreground, while Magik crackles with icy energy at the upper left, a disintegrating figure tumbles in the background, and Magma burns bright amid the chaos below. Front and center, two black-and-gold-suited mutants hold their ground: one wielding a mystic whip, the other drawing back a bow with cool precision. Zeb Wells, Diógenes Neves, Cam Smith, and John Rauch bring this team back together, and if this striking first image is any indication, the New Mutants have plenty of fire left in them.
