New Mutants #34
New Mutants Vol. 3 #34 marks the formal reintegration of Earth-616 Clarice Ferguson — the mainstream-universe Blink — into an ongoing Marvel team book, kicking off a three-part arc that directly followed her harrowing journey through Necrosha. The issue is the opening chapter of the 'Blink' story embedded within the X-Men: Regenesis publishing event, meaning it serves double duty as both a character-rehabilitation spotlight and a post-Schism status-quo check for the New Mutants team. For readers tracking the long, discontinuous history of the 616 Blink — who died within a month of her 1994 debut, spent years in narrative limbo, and resurfaced only through the Necrosha event — this issue represents the first time that version of Clarice was given sustained, extended panel time as a protagonist rather than a peripheral or antagonistic figure. It also marks penciler David Lopez's arrival on the series, bringing a clean, character-driven visual approach to a team book that had cycled through multiple artistic voices.
In "Blink and You Miss Her," the New Mutants face a new challenge as they settle into their San Francisco base, taking on a mission from Cyclops to locate the missing Blink. With Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning steering the story and David López bringing the action to life alongside Álvaro López’s inks and Val Staples’ vibrant colors, the hunt for Blink unfolds with urgency and mystery. Jorge Molina’s cover captures the tension of the search, perfectly framing the team’s next high-stakes assignment.

Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning had taken over writing duties on the third volume of New Mutants with issue #25, and by #34 they were steering the title through Marvel's Regenesis publishing initiative — the line-wide reorganization that followed X-Men: Schism. The Regenesis context meant each X-book was expected to show where its cast stood after the Cyclops/Wolverine split, giving Abnett and Lanning room to pivot the series' 'unfinished business' mandate toward Blink, whose complicated post-Necrosha status had been teased as far back as the Schism event itself. Artist David Lopez joined the creative team beginning with the preceding issue (#33) as part of that Regenesis refresh, with Álvaro López on inks, Val Staples on colors, and Joe Caramagna lettering, under editors Sebastian Girner and Nick Lowe, with Axel Alonso serving as editor-in-chief.
