Mysteries of Unexplored Worlds #6
"Night Call" in Mysteries of Unexplored Worlds #6 (1957) delivers a chilling tale of hubris and retribution, written by Joe Gill and brought to life with stark, haunting visuals by Steve Ditko, who both pencils and inks the interior art. After Captain Fenton's cruel act of casting a crew member's totem overboard, a storm sinks his ship, leaving him stranded on an island where he’s worshipped as a god—only to face a reckoning when the very totem he discarded washes ashore. The cover, also by Ditko, captures the story’s eerie tension with its stark, expressive imagery.
