Mysteries of Unexplored Worlds #4
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis anthology issue contains two stories. "The Forbidden Room" follows a man who murdered his uncle and schemes to destroy evidence of the crime by altering furniture in a locked room, only to discover the items mysteriously age and crumble to dust, seemingly cursing his plan. "The Wanderer" features Professor Richard S. Falk pitching an expedition to explore a mysterious asteroid that appears and disappears unpredictably, half a million miles from Earth, with wealthy spaceship pilot John Meister eventually funding the venture to investigate this celestial anomaly.
When Philip Dexter inherits his uncle’s estate, he dismisses the servants’ warnings and decides to enter the forbidden room—once sealed to preserve his uncle’s youth. As he explores the eerie space, he begins to uncover the unsettling truth behind the room’s strange power, where aging is transferred from the man to the furniture.
In the frozen north, pilotSock Sorenson is hired by the eccentric Dr. Ernst Volkert to fly a remote glacier, unaware that Volkert’s true goal is to unleash a horde of prehistoric creatures thawed from the ice. As the steam melts the glacier, monstrous beasts emerge—some alive, some still frozen—and Sorenson realizes too late that he’s trapped in a nightmare he helped create.
In a secluded swamp shack, a reclusive hermit named Teddy is haunted by the sudden, familiar voices of his long-lost family—voices he hasn’t heard since childhood. As memories flood back, he recalls his past as a scientist who built a machine to observe parallel worlds, and now wonders if the voices are real or a product of his isolation. The story unfolds with quiet dread as Teddy grapples with the possibility that the voices are calling from the world he left behind—or from a reality that never let him go.
Jo, a man from another world, races through a forest in a car, desperately trying to reach his spacecraft before being captured. As he flees from a mob convinced he’s a monster, he realizes too late that the giant redwood blocking the road is actually his ship—his escape, and the key to proving Earth is safe for his people.
