In "Early to Bid," Margie's father Mr. Albright agrees to buy a property at a charity fair despite expecting competition from other bidders, but Margie decides to help him win by entering herself as Mrs. Odetts, a charity flag-pole sitter. When a mysterious masked man called Stoneface appears at the station house claiming to be interested in Mrs. Odetts's whereabouts, Margie must explain the situation to her father and the police while the man reveals he wants to speak with her, leading to confusion and comic misunderstandings as everyone tries to figure out his true intentions.
