☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis 52-page issue contains "The Lion Test," a story by Clement Good about missionary Mark Tether, a former All-American football player who must wrestle a lion to prove himself to the Ga-wa-na tribe, and the three-part serial "Nyoka and The Mission of Mystery," in which Nyoka and her fiancé Larry Grayson encounter archaeological discoveries and unseen dangers while exploring in Africa. The issue also includes "Freshman Freddy in Spiked Out," a humor feature about a college student's misadventure at a self-service restaurant.
Nyoka finds herself trapped and cornered by a group of ruthless men who believe she holds the key to a cure for the jungle fly disease, but the only clue she has is a blank letter addressed to Dr. Lawrence. As they prepare to force her to reveal the formula’s location, she whistles for her loyal friend Jumbo, the zebrafant, hoping he’ll come to her aid. With Jumbo’s help, she turns the tide, outwitting her captors and using the very rope meant to bind her to free herself and capture her enemies.
In a circus-themed comedy, a bumbling performer named Goggles accidentally loses his glasses during a daring stunt, leaving him unable to see. With the circus owner, Mr. Bungling, demanding he perform that night, Goggles is forced to take on the act blind—only to discover the glue he uses to secure the bicycle to the wire has stuck it too well.
Freshman Freddy’s lunchtime mishap takes a wild turn when he misplaces his meal ticket at Podunk University’s eatery, only to discover it’s been accidentally spiked—literally—by his cleats, turning a 15-cent snack into a $4.00 bill. Now stuck washing dishes to cover the bill, he’s saved by a lucky break… until his spikes punch out every number, leaving him with a ticket that’s even more expensive.
