“Scaling a Wall”

The tall, long-nosed Mutt bends curiously over the diminutive, top-hatted Jeff, who sits perched on a crate at an ice-fishing hole — his line baited with a bone and his answer to Mutt's question ("Whatcha fishin' for?") a deadpan "Dog-fish!" It's a perfectly timed gag, rendered with warmth by cover artist Sheldon Mayer, that captures exactly what made Bud Fisher's beloved duo such enduring company. This 52-page 1949 DC edition promises a full helping of that same sharp, good-natured humor inside.
