About this Collection

This Epic Collection gathers the early adventures of the Thing and his ever-changing partner, the Human Torch, from the pages of Marvel Two-in-One. Spanning issues #1–20 and Annual #1, the volume features classic Marvel storytelling as Ben Grimm teams up with a rotating cast of heroes to battle monsters, cosmic threats, and personal demons. The collection includes the titular 'Cry Monster' arc and showcases the work of creators like Roy Thomas, Len Wein, and Jim Starlin.

"Cry: Monster!" kicks off the Marvel Two-in-One Epic Collection #1 with a wild ride as the Thing takes the curious alien Wundarr to the zoo—only to find the childlike extraterrestrial unleashing chaos by freeing every animal in sight. When Steve and Sharon enjoy a peaceful day, the mayhem draws in Captain America and Namorita, who steps in to help manage the situation. Back at the Baxter Building, the team is stunned by the sudden arrival of Tarin, a woman from the far future, who warns of an apocalyptic Badoon invasion. With the fate of Earth hanging in the balance, Reed sends the Thing, Cap, and Sharon back with her to alter the future. Written by Steve Gerber and illustrated by Sal Buscema, with inks by F. Giacoia, colors by P. Goldberg, and letters by Gaspar Saladino and C. Jetter, the issue’s dynamic cover by John Romita (pencils) and John Romita (inks) captures the moment the adventure begins.
