“Time Bomb!”

The cover of this June 1973 issue says it all: a massive, sneering Kang the Conqueror dominates the scene, his enormous purple-gauntleted fists reaching out to engulf both a struggling Spider-Man and a blazing Human Torch — all against the promise of "War Across a Thousand Centuries!" John Romita's pencils and Mike Esposito's inks deliver a wonderfully dynamic composition, with the flaming Torch streaking alongside a web-slinging Spidey as Kang looms large enough to make the odds look very, very grim. Gerry Conway's "Time Bomb!" is the kind of team-up that pits two very different Marvel heroes against one of their most formidable time-spanning villains — and the cover alone makes a compelling case for diving in.
