“The Doomsday Gambit!”

The cover by John Romita says it all — Black Bolt unleashes a shockwave at the center of a swirling energy burst, sending Spider-Man, a green-scaled villain, and other combatants flying through a storm of debris. Marvel's own banner boldly promises "the most long-awaited battle in the history of comicdom," and with Black Bolt's silent scream radiating across the entire composition, it's hard to argue otherwise. "The Doomsday Gambit!" from 1973 is a fine showcase of what made Marvel Team-Up such an entertaining corner of the Marvel universe — unexpected alliances and the sheer visual thrill of heroes and threats colliding.
