“The People-Breeders!”

In "The People-Breeders!", Thor and his companions set sail on a perilous mission to defend Asgard, blessed by Odin but quickly torn apart by internal strife. As rivalries flare and alliances shift, the crew's unity is tested—Loki defends Volstagg, Magrat the Schemer plots against Thor, and Kroda the Duellist is thwarted by Hogun the Grim. Written by Stan Lee and brought to life with dynamic energy by Jack Kirby (pencils), Vince Colletta (inks), and Artie Simek (letters), this 1974 Marvel Spectacular issue captures the stormy heart of mythic adventure. The cover, also by Kirby and Colletta, mirrors the tension within.

Thor and his companions set sail on a mission to defeat the forces of evil which threaten Asgard. They go with Odin's blessing but, within minutes, they are brawling amongst themselves. Loki defends Volstagg from Loki's cruelty. Magrat the Schemer wishes to be in favor with Loki and urges Kroda the Duellist to assassinate Thor. Kroda is prevented from doing so by Hogun the Grim and peace returns to the vessel and its crew. Back in Asgard, Odin reflects upon the wisdom of sanctioning such a quest.
