Marvel Masterworks: The Defenders #5
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis volume collects issues #31-41 of the original Defenders series, along with material from Giant-Size Defenders #3. It features classic storylines by writer David Anthony Kraft and artist Herb Trimpe, including the team's battles against the Headmen and the introduction of the villainous Nebulon. The hardcover edition continues Marvel's archival restoration of the non-team's Bronze Age adventures.
In "Nighthawk's Brain!", the Defenders split up across the globe in a high-stakes mission to stop the Headmen, with Red Guardian and Nighthawk tracking down Nebulon's Bozos in France—only to be captured. Meanwhile, Power Man and Valkyrie face a terrifying ordeal in India, shrunk to the size of insects, while Jack Norriss and Ruby Thursday clash in a deadly trap. Steve Gerber’s sharp writing and Sal Buscema’s dynamic art bring the chaos to life, with Klaus Janson’s inks adding depth to the action, all under Al Milgrom’s striking cover.
