Part of the Marvel Masterworks series, it presents restored versions of these seminal stories that helped establish Marvel's superhero legacy during World War II-era comics.
In "The Orton Medical Mission," the Torch races against the storm to deliver vital medical supplies to a besieged town during a brutal blizzard—only to crash-land when the plane goes down. With the cargo now in the hands of two escaped convicts, the hero must navigate the frozen wilderness to recover what’s been stolen and prevent a humanitarian disaster.
In "On the Side of the Surface Men," Namor returns to America after quelling a threat beneath the Atlantic, only to be detained upon arrival. With the city's subway system overrun by criminals, he’s released at the urging of Betty Dean, who believes his unique abilities are the key to restoring order.
In "The Tyrant of Torpis," Professor Zog sends Operatives #1 and #4, along with Electro, on a mission to the Republic of Molivia, where the ruthless warlord Kalph Belgri has launched a brutal invasion. With the fate of the nation hanging in the balance, the team must navigate the chaos of war and the threat of a powerful enemy determined to seize control.
In "Fifth Episode," De Kraft hunts down David Rand—known as Ka-Zar—after learning the jungle hero still lives, setting in motion a deadly game of pursuit and survival deep within the wild. The story unfolds with tense, relentless pacing as the two adversaries clash in the heart of the untamed jungle.
In "The Execution of the Sub-Mariner," the Atlantean prince Namor faces a death sentence after being blamed for a subway disaster, despite having helped resolve it. As the world turns against him, a surprising act of courage from Betty Dean changes the course of his fate—but Namor’s vow of revenge looms, setting the stage for what comes next.
In "The Border Dictator," the Raider steps into a dusty showdown when he uncovers a web of deceit behind Sam Marvin’s attempt to steal Pete Williams’s land—only to find the property is a hidden route for smuggled cattle. With the frontier law hanging in the balance, the Raider must navigate treachery and shadowy operations before the truth can be revealed.
In "The Voice's Dope Racket," Professor Zog directs his network of operatives to pinpoint cities plagued by drug trafficking, setting Electro on a nationwide mission to dismantle the criminal operations. With the stakes rising and the streets under siege, the hero must confront the growing threat before it spreads further.
In "Murder of a Cosmetics Queen," the Ferret dives into a high-stakes mystery when the owner of a major cosmetic factory is found dead, leaving behind a trail of secrets and suspicion. With the brother of the victim wrongly accused, the Ferret must untangle a web of deception hidden beneath the glamour of the beauty industry.
In "Marked for Murder," the Angel and Betty barely escape a deadly ambush that sends them careening off a cliff—only to uncover a chilling motive behind the attack. Betty's aunt, it seems, has a dark plan to eliminate her and her father, driven by greed and a long-buried secret.
In "Rampage in New York," Namor unleashes his fury on the city he once called home, turning Manhattan into a battleground as he vows to lay waste to the entire continent. With the weight of betrayal driving him, the Sub-Mariner’s wrath threatens to engulf the surface world in chaos.
In "The Felons and the Flood," a sudden and devastating flood from the Ohio River threatens lives and homes, prompting Professor Zog to dispatch two of his Operatives to enlist the help of Electro in the crisis. With the waters rising and danger spreading, the team must navigate the chaos—though not all who show up have the town’s best interests at heart.
In "The Deadly Scheme of 'Red' Skelton," Ka-Zar encounters Professor Rice, a botanist journeying to the Belgian Congo in search of rare plants—only to find himself entangled in a dangerous plot when his pilot, a ruthless criminal, schemes to blackmail him and marry his daughter.
In "The Human Torch and the Sub-Mariner Meet!!!", the Sub-Mariner prowls the surface world seeking revenge on humanity for a past betrayal, only to be interrupted by the fiery arrival of the Human Torch. Their clash of wills ignites a battle of flame and fury, as two powerful forces—born of different worlds—face off in a moment that could change the course of their rivalry.
In "The Search for Sub-Mariner," the Torch, driven by guilt and frustration after being labeled a coward by the police chief, sets out to make amends for the damage Namor has wrought. Alongside Betty, he races to the Empire State Building, where the Sub-Mariner has been sighted, determined to confront the prince once more.
In "The Captive in the Cabin," the Angel races to save a girl taken from her family’s secluded cabin, uncovering a mystery tied to the powerful Meltmore Steel Company. With the stakes rising and danger lurking in the woods, he must untangle the truth behind her abduction before it’s too late.
In "The Boomeranged Hold-Up," the Raider crosses paths with Mexican Pete, a lone rider tracking the bank robbers who stole the savings of local ranchers. Suspicious of the trail and the man leading it, the Raider begins to suspect that the real thief might be closer to home—perhaps even the bank’s own president.
In "The Crook Who Controlled Electro," escaped convict "Boss" Sarpo teams up with the ruthless "Scar-Face" Joe to kidnap Professor Zog and hijack his powerful Electro robot, using it to pull off a string of daring crimes. But as the duo's plan unfolds, they're not the only ones after Electro—Jago and his Dragon-Men have arrived on Earth, drawn by the robot's immense power and eager to claim it for their own sinister purposes.
In "Battle with Blackie Giles," Ferret walks into his local bank only to find it under siege by robbers—except he’s not there to stop them. Instead, he turns the situation into a clever trap, using his own presence as bait to outwit the criminals and bring them to justice.
In "Gold and Greed," Ka-Zar is called to the jungle when a ruthless prospector’s murder ignites tensions between a tribal chief and a gold mine’s new owner. With greed and violence threatening to consume the land, Ka-Zar must navigate a treacherous balance between justice and survival.
