This second chapter of "In My Life" presents one of the more haunting covers of 2001: Tom Mandrake depicts J'onn J'onzz in his classic red-and-blue costume, cradling young Martian children in his arms while dozens more crowd around him — their wide red eyes and smooth green faces filling nearly every inch of the image. Skeletal, ghostly figures loom in the background alongside shadowy Martians wrapped in chains, giving the scene a weight that runs deeper than action alone. John Ostrander, Eduardo Barreto, and Ray Kryssing deliver what promises to be a deeply personal chapter in J'onn's ongoing series.
