“Daffy Over Dots”

Harvey Comics' Little Dot #33 from 1958 is a cheerful slice of the polka-dot obsession that made this series so endearing. The cover says it all: Dot grins mischievously over a tub of colorful dye, having already dunked one delighted puppy into a spotted transformation — while a second eager dog waits its turn and a third looks on from the foreground, all of them unwitting participants in her dot-decorating spree. It's a warm, funny snapshot of Dot at her most irrepressibly enthusiastic, and at a dime a copy it was pure fun for young readers in 1958.

Richie goes on his first date, bringing his new girlfriend Gloria every flower in the florist shop. The next day he showers her with an overabundance of candy and dolls as well. Gloria's father becomes concerned with so many gifts filling up the house, especially when he hears Gloria tell Richie that she likes pets too. Gloria assures her father that Richie is only giving her one pet, but even so, Richie manages to go overboard.
