The cover of this February 1995 issue promises desperate, claustrophobic action — the bold header "No Escape from Planet Hell!" says it all as a cluster of Legionnaires fights to hold their ground against a surging mob of grasping, multicolored hands reaching up from below. Center stage, a blue-suited hero with distinctive goggle-visor plants his fist and braces against the tide, flanked by a dark-haired woman in white, a green-skinned figure, and a blonde hero whose energy crackles visibly around him. Lee Moder's linework keeps the chaos kinetic without losing clarity, and with Mark Waid, Tom McCraw, and Tom Peyer on writing duties, "Breakout!" looks like exactly the kind of high-stakes Legion adventure the title does so well.
