Legion of Super-Heroes #48
The cover of this October 1993 issue says it all: Mordru stands arms wide, long white hair flowing, looming over a field of gravestones — names like J'onn J'onzz, To'Nah, Rokk Krinn, and Durna Konak visible among the fallen — while a lone, kneeling figure cowers at his feet. Stuart Immonen and Ron Boyd deliver a striking cover image that frames the Legion's plight in stark, dramatic terms. With T & M Bierbaum scripting and Immonen on interior art as well, this "Last Stand for the Legion" chapter looks like a genuinely bleak moment for DC's 30th-century heroes.
